October 2010

The Art Walk for Breast Cancer event was wonderful. The support was inspiring. I feel honored to have been a part of this great event for a very needed cause. If you are on Facebook you can check out some of the "happenings" at Art Walk for Breast Cancer.

Currently I am showing my work at Moultrie Creek Studios at 9C Aviles St., St. Augustine, FL 32084, 904-829-2142. Stop by the gallery to view my work and see all this beautiful studio has to offer!

I continue to work on exhibition projects that are dear to my heart.

June 2010

This has been another busy year. My husband and I are traveling up to Maine (Painting Mount Desert Island)and Maryland (Plein Air Easton)for paint out events that Charles has been invited to attend. I am fortunate to be able to work on my projects while Charles is off plein air painting.

In October I will be participating in the Art Walk for Breast Cancer which will benefit the Cancer Center at Flagler Hospital. Survivor artists donate paintings for raffle to help raise funds. It is a wonderful event that I am happy to be a part of.

Spring is starting to show it's lovely face! I have spent most of the past few months working for artist Charles Dickinson (alias: my husband) to help him get ready for the many painting events he has planned this year. I also continue work on Visions and Voices: a Musical and Visual Journey. I hope to have the exhibit competed this year. I also plan to record the songs this year so it will be a busy year!

UPDATE October 2008

First, October is Breast Cancer Awareness month so do what you can to bring awareness and support to this great cause. If you are a woman, please go get your mammograms!

Second, this has been a very busy and quick year! Last Spring Debbie performed twice at her two-artist exhibit, Visions and Voices: a Musical and Visual Journey, at the Appalachicola Museum of Art. The first performance was at the opening of the exhibition in March. Visions and Voices is an exhibit that includes paintings by both Debbie and her husband, artist Charles Dickinson, that were inspired by Debbie's original songs. The paintings are hung side by side separated by the lyrics to the song that inspired the paintings. During the performance, Debbie stands in-between the two paintings inspired by a song and she sings that song. She then moves to the next two paintings and sings that song. It is an exciting and fun exhibit. The second performance was during the Forgotten Coast Great Paint Out Invitational 2008. It was an honor to perform and exhibit during this exciting plein air event. Debbie and Charles are still working with Jupiter Medical Center to try to create an awareness and fund raising event that includes Visions and Voices.

The summer was spent traveling the NE with her plein air artist husband, Charles Dickinson. She spent some time plein air painting during her first visit to ME. She is now back in St. Augustine completing work on Visions and Voices as well as upcoming art projects.

Debbie is currently exhibiting three paintings from Visions and Voices at the "Catharsis" exhibit at the Art Advocate Gallery on San Marco. The event includes art created by cancer survivors that is expressive and inspiring. It is the story of survival and triumph. It is also a beautiful exhibit to bring awareness as well as support to Art Breakers and the Art Advocate. The Art Advocate is the gallery for the St. Johns County Cultural Council. The exhibit runs through October.

Last check up was in September 2008. Debbie is now a three and a half year survivor!

June 2005

As many of you know, Debbie underwent surgery in June 2005 for cancer. The surgery went well.

She then underwent post-surgical treatments to insure that her body is free of cancer. Please wish her well.

(And buy a painting! Surgery is expensive.)

UPDATE: Debbie has been cancer free and doing well for two and a half years now.

We are excited to announce that Florida's Forgotten Coast Plein Air Invitational is including a performance and showing of Visions and Voices at the Apalachicola Museum of Art in their paint out festivities. UPDATE 2008

Debbie spent the past year preparing for her two-artist exhibition, Visions and Voices: a Musical and Visual Journey, with artist Charles Dickinson. The exhibit opened on November 2, 2007 and will hang in the Dow Museum Gallery in St. Augustine until the end of February 2008. The exhibit is scheduled to move to the Apalachicola Museum of Art. In this exhibit both Boon and Dickinson created paintings inspired by Debbie's original songs. The paintings were hung side by side with lyric sheets mounted between them. On the opening night of the exhibit Debbie performed each song standing by the paintings that were inspired by that song. She then moved to the next two paintings and sang the song that inspired those paintings. She continued around the exhibit until all 12 songs were sung. The artists are proud to announce that the event was voted one of the top Art events of 2007 by the Compass of the St. Augustine Record. The artists hope to expand the exhibit and move it to South Florida to be part of a fund-raising event for the Foshay Cancer Center at Jupiter Medical Center in October 2008. Please check back for additional information.
